Adult Education

Adult Education in the Donahies Community School

The Donahies Community School Adult Education Programme has been serving the local community since September 1980.  We provide day and evening classes in a friendly environment.  A wide variety of courses are available including

*personal development

*skill based classes

Have a look at some photos of our classes in action HERE

As our school is a one storey building, it is very wheelchair friendly.  The school also has designated disabled parking spaces, ramps into the canteen area and toilets for the disabled. Our canteen facility provides students the opportunity to enjoy a cuppa at break-time as they get to know their fellow students.

If you have any queries, you can contact us by email at or by phone on 01-8482217.  If you leave a message at this number, we will return your call as soon as possible.  Alternatively, you can contact the school main office (9 -12.30 only) at 01 – 8473522.

We have recently launched a Facebook page, where you can discover more about our courses.  Unfortunately, we will be unable to answer queries through our Facebook  page, therefore we recommend that you contact us by email or by telephone as indicated above.

A Fond Farewell . . .

Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann . . .

After many years at Donahies CS Adult Education, we bade a fond farewell to Cora Lanigan, our yoga tutor.

Cora has been with us since the very beginning of adult education at the Donahies in 1980 and first began as tutor of a dressmaking course.

Cora’s Tuesday evening yoga classes have been a firm favourite and have gathered a very loyal following over the years.  On behalf of our students and staff, past and present, we would like to thank Cora for her outstanding contribution to our programme and the joy and love of yoga she has instilled in many people.  Cora has touched many lives and we wish her the very best in her retirement.

Cora will be glad to hear that the tradition of yoga, which she initiated at the Donahies, will continue on and we are offering courses for our September programme with Dermot Kirby on our longstanding Tuesday evening and also Tuesday afternoon and Thursday evening.

Featured in the photograph with Cora are former Directors of Adult Education Ann O’Shea and Liam Patton, current Director Gemma O’Connor and far left Antoinette O’Dwyer, administrator, and Lucy Finn, former Adult Education post holder.
