At the Donahies, we believe that student well-being (encompassing physical, social, mental, and spiritual health) is a top priority for our entire school community. We foster this through a partnership between students, staff, and parents/guardians, making it a vital part of your educational journey.
What is Student Wellbeing?
Student wellbeing refers to the overall state of a student's health and happiness, encompassing several key areas:
- Mental Wellbeing: This includes their emotional state, how they cope with stress, their self-esteem, and their overall psychological health.
- Physical Wellbeing: This involves their physical health, including nutrition, exercise, sleep, and feeling safe and healthy in their environment.
- Social Wellbeing: This relates to their relationships with others, their sense of belonging, and their ability to form and maintain positive connections.
- Spiritual Wellbeing: For some, this involves a sense of purpose, meaning in life, and connection to something larger than themselves, which may or may not be tied to a specific religion.
Essentially, student wellbeing is about creating a positive environment where students feel safe, supported, and able to thrive both academically and personally. It acknowledges that a student's overall health and happiness significantly impact their learning, behaviour, and future success.
