DonahiesCS Carpool Karaoke!!!!
DonahiesCS Green School Committee encourages everyone to carpool; to reduce traffic, decrease fuel consumption and reduce emissions.
Have a listen to our students singing their way to school (They do this every day )
Can you do better? Gather your carpool and give it a go!!
Recycling cubed!!!
The Green Schools Committee has been hard at work encouraging the recycling of plastic bottles.
As part of a recycling awareness campaign, Donaghmede Shopping Centre has a giant competition cube at its centre from October 8th – November 2nd . Students from the Green Schools Committee dropped recycled plastic bottles, collected in the school, into the cube. Each bottle contains an entry form for the recycling competition.
A winner will be picked at random from the cube, they will receive an iPad for themselves and €1,000 for their school. (Fingers and toes crossed!!)
The bottles will be recycled by Donaghmede Shopping Centre after the competition.
In Ireland we only recycle 35% of our plastic. We can improve on this and greatly reduce landfill and strain on our resources.
Pictured above at the cube are Green Schools Committee members, Carla Rooney, Layla Lynch and Paige Ivory.
Good job!! Great response from everyone to the call out for recycled bottles.
Don’t forget to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Water Explorer Programme
About..
While working towards gaining a third flag for water ,the Green Schools Committee have been participating in The Water Explorer Programme.
Water Explorer is a fun, inspiring and educational programme that empowers thousands of students across the world to lead joint action on water issues for their schools and communities. We have participated in completing water-based challenges on key water issues.
Collaborating with other students in another school-Santa Sabina,Sutton we decided to hold a Water Day Festival in both schools. We held numerous meetings and came with lots of interesting water based activities. It was decided to invite a local primary school to the event. We had different activities like a photo-booth, crafts, experiments, board games and a jigsaw we created ourselves, dance and a quiz- all with the aim of educating our visiting school and our own first year students about the importance of saving water.
We found the whole experience so rewarding and it helped us develop a range of transferable knowledge and skills. Due to our efforts we have been invited to attend a Water Explorer awards ceremony in May. Check out some of our pictures of the day and remember – “Save Water, Every Drop Counts”.
