Hello Everyone,
My name is Geraldine O’Leary and my role is our school is the Home School Community Liaison Coordinator. This means that I am the link teacher between school, home and the community. My role is get parents more involved in school life and promote partnerships with other organisations in the community. We know that when schools work with families and other organisations in the community, it makes for a better educational experience for all our students.
We do this by promoting excellent attendance and participation with our students, by running free classes and courses for parents and linking up with community organisations for talks, events and regular groups. Some of the things we do, is run art and attendance competitions for students, invite parents into school for drop off/drop in coffee mornings, host cooking demos and flowering arranging classes for parents at Easter and Christmas. We help families through the primary to secondary transitions, connect families to local services and visit families in their homes too.
